Coaches

Lynette Wessels took over as Head Coach of the Otters in 2001. In 1978 Lynette helped Santa van Jaarsveld with her junior swimmers and later also helped coaching with Syd Gibbons and Douggie Eagar.

In 2002 Lynette was chosen to accompany the junior SA Team to Brazil. In 2003 Lynette accompanied the SA Team to Mare Mostrum in Barcelona and France. In the same year Lynette was chosen by Swimming South Africa to accompany the SA Team to the All Africa Games in Nigeria.

In her short coaching career, Lynette has already produced 4 SA swimmers: namely Suzaan van Biljon, Jo-Ann Bergman, Renaldo Lategan and Trudi Maree. Lynette, as coach from 2001 until present has produced swimmers who have qualified to represent Free State at Junior and Senior National Championships. She also produced swimmers who qualified for all three National Level galas and National B gala. Every year her swimmers do extremely well at these galas, breaking records and receive lots of medals.

Lynette was born and bred in Bloemfontein. She went to Oranje Meisies Hoerskool. Lynette swam for Otters and represented Free State on school level. Lynette swam for SA from 1981-1983. They swam in Taiwan and Isreal. Lynette has 4 children who attend local schools and her husband has an established physiotherapy business in Bloemfontein.
